Episode 93 Pollination and Agents

Today’s episode is all about pollination.  Pollination is frequently misunderstood as are the agents of pollination.  I hope to dispel some myths and hopefully not be too confusing.  By the end of this podcast I hope you are better equipped to arrange your garden around planting for pollinators.

*What is pollination?

*The actual percentage (estimated) of flowering plants (and plants in total) that require pollinating agents.

*The different types of pollination

*The differences between cross and self pollination and what self-fertile means.

*Why you may see an absence in pollinators and what to do to attract more.

*What plants do and don’t need pollinating agents and why.

*The major pollinating agents and their specific idiosyncrasies.  Also, why I’m beginning to sour on mason bees as a pollinator.
