Jason, what ever happened to your "chickenculture"... http://huntgathergroweat.com/chickenculture .  Just got to remembering the thoughts about closed chicken systems that were small/micro scale of combining chickens/rabbits/worms/feed and whatever other possibilities can be achieved.

Jim

Since I moved out of the suburbs I kind of didn't need it anymore.  Rick at Rise and Shine Rabbitry does an awesome thing.  He lets the chickens scratch around in the rabbit poo and pick out worms and grubs and turn the compost so to speak.  I'll probably utilize that to some degree.

I cannot remember where I read or saw it, but it was some mobile chicken/rabbit hutch cover for raised beds.  Essentially post-harvest drop this onto the bed, and let them do their thing.  I cant imagine the value of leaving it on the raised bed for more than a day or two with chickens, but I could see some rabbits over top for a while.  Maybe that is why I was thinking about your chickenculture episode.

Thinking out loud:  Harvest Crop -> Post-Harvest (leave veg litter except nightshades) -> Rabbits (1-2 weeks) -> Chickens (1-2 days) -> Spring/Summer Cover Crop (probably buckwheat) or Fall Cover Crop (prob Crimson Clover) ??

I like the progression of that plan!
