I went crappie fishing last weekend.  The guys that were at the lake the same time as me were catching them like crazy.  I managed only one in about 20 minutes of fishing.  I would have stayed longer but I made it there pretty late and my reel needed respooling.  Just goes to show that you can't prepare your equipment enough.

Sounds like a crappie fishing trip.  (sorry, someone had to say it)

That's about how mine go.  This spring/summer I want to get the boys and myself more into doing useful outside stuff.  It's about time to snag the canoe back from my brother and do some fishing with the kids out in the lake instead of just from the shore.

I'm with you on the respooling.  I hate trying to do any work on fishing reels in the field.  I carry a spare cheap open top reel just in case so I don't have to try to work out tangled line until after I get home.  With two pre-teen boys it really helps keep them interested if they don't have to wait for me to fix something for them.
