I actually really enjoy these little visitors to my garden, butterfly populations are so in decline and these guys are just beautiful.

I just wanted to share that I grow my dill right beside my carrots. The butterflies seem to prefer the dill, and because I have 'mammoth dill' it grows SO quickly I can still get a harvest off the dill plant even if I let the caterpillars munch away. I think even if they went after your carrots there were have to be quite a few before they actually reduced your harvest.
