When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
I love this quote only because it is so true!
How many times in the garden have I hoed at a weed to either only miss and hit a plant I planted or to just not recognize the plant and hoe it up anyway? I couldn’t count. The point is that many weeds such as dandelions grow deep taproots which are resistant to being pulled. That should tell you something about their nature.
